The Vitamin- December 10th

2 Timothy 2:23 NIV
“Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.”

Yup, the word ‘stupid’ appears in the NIV translation of the Bible. Surprised? We shouldn’t be. Look at the context. We’ve all been involved in them. Arguments about which season of the year is most enjoyable, which sports team is the best, what song is the most popular.

Sometimes it’s fun. Sometimes it’s harmful. Consider the stupid arguments you’ve had with someone you love. Was it worth it? Sometimes it becomes a matter of pride and we’ll do anything to win, even if we know we’re wrong. Often, when you win an argument you really lose. You lose the respect of the other and you create hurt feelings and animosity. Usually it’s not worth it.

This Sunday we’ll conclude the series, ‘Communicating God’s Way’ by discussing ways to keep communication functional. In a way, it will be a review of what we’ve covered so far. We’ll examine how to be honest, clear and purposeful in what we say.

In Christ,
Pastor Prigge
