Psalm 104:27-28 NIV
These all look to you to give them their food at the proper time. {28} When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.
I don’t think any true Christian would argue with the fact that God has given us everything we have. He’s given us brains and bodies which enable us to work, and be semi-productive, and earn a paycheck. He has apparently blessed us with health. We’re all still here, aren’t we? So, everything we have has been given to us by God.
All God asks is a little acknowledgment. He desires that we give a proportionate amount of money back to Him so that His kingdom on earth can grow. He desires that we use what we have to glorify Him and benefit others. Don’t get offended. If it weren’t for God, you wouldn’t have any of it anyway. How dare we say to God, “Hey, don’t bother me. I’m too busy dealing with all my stuff.” God may just decide to take it all back.
Best of all, the Lord has given us a gift He can’t take back. The gift of forgiveness. Jesus died for the sins WE have committed. We are holy in God’s eyes through faith in Jesus. Because we’re forgiven, the door to heaven is wide open. No earthly possession can provide the satisfaction and pleasure that will be ours eternally in heaven.
So loosen your grip on your earthly stuff. Use it to glorify God and spread the Word about Christ. The good stuff comes in eternity anyway.
In Christ,
